Moving downtown a Clear choice - IT biz likes being where action is

It didn't take much to persuade one suburban IT firm to go downtown.

Not only did Clear Concepts co-founders Shane Hartje and Scott McKenzie like all the trappings of being downtown -- the nine-year-old firm spent its first two years in leased space above the Chocolate Shop restaurant on Portage Avenue -- but being there also made sense from a business perspective.

They said they moved Clear Concepts out of the downtown seven years ago because the firm had outgrown its space and they couldn't find another suitable location in the area. So they moved to Sherbrook Street, and then to Border Street in St. James. But the intention was always to move back downtown because a number of their major customers were located there, and the central location makes it easier to service clients in other areas of the city. Business award winners announced Winnipeg Free Press October 30,2008

The winners of the Manitoba Business Awards were announced yesterday evening.

The awards program organized by the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce included the presentation of previously announced Lieutenant Governor's Awards for Contribution to the Community.

The individual award was presented posthumously to Harold Buchwald. The business award went to MTS Allstream.

In the Business Categories the recipients were:

Sam Katz Chooses Clear Concepts for a Second Term - September, 2006

Mayor Sam Katz has once again chosen Clear Concepts to build and host www.samkatz.ca for the upcoming City of Winnipeg Civic Elections. 
 
In 2004 Clear Concepts proposed to then mayoral candidate Sam Katz the idea of a website to aid in his election campaign. Not unlike Sam Katz, Clear Concepts is all about Action and with the dedication of our project design coordinator Chris Mitchell, the samkatz.ca site was registered, designed and posted live within 24 hours of accepting our proposal. "Clear Concepts has been thorough and professional from start to finish. Every step of the process has been well thought out and carefully executed. We are pleased to have them on board once again for the 2006 campaign" said Mayor Katz.
